Volunteer Opportunities and Internships

You can play a crucial part in helping us bring about change.  TASAAGA has a number of volunteer and internships opportunities for those seeking to make a contribution to the changes we are making in the rural and fishing communities of Uganda.  You will be working together with TASAAGA, the children, the women and their rural communities to make a lasting and sustainable change, helping them to move away form a life of extreme poverty.

There are lots of ways you can help:

  1. Volunteer as an English teacher at an orphans and vulnerable children's school or at the centre for children living with HIV/AIDS.

  2. Volunteer as a sport or games coach for children at an orphanage school.

  3. Volunteer with Kick HIV/AIDS Soccer project as a soccer coach.

  4. Volunteer at the health clinic.

  5. Volunteer with the HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB education project as a community educator.

  6. Volunteer with the micro-finance project as a field officer.

  7. Volunteer as a project coordinator for one of our projects.

  8.  Volunteer as a construction builder / foreman to help with the second school we are building for the children.

  9. Volunteer as a carpenter to help build tables, desks and chairs for our school.

  10. Volunteer as a teacher of basic computer skills to teach at our orphans and vulnerable children's school.

  Medical Professionals

If you are a medical professional, medical student, pre-medical, social worker, psychologist or nurse, TASAAGA is inviting you to volunteer at Kimi Island Clinic. Kimi is an Island on Lake Victoria, the second largest lake in the world. Although Kimi is only 30 minutes away from Ngamba Island which is the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, it is one of the islands in Uganda with the poorest population and had no access to healthcare services at all. TASAAGA started a medical clinic on this Island with the aim of enabling people living there to access healthcare services. The most common cases of diseases on this island are Malaria, HIV/AIDS related diseases and maternal health issues. The clinic also provides treatment for other illnesses.

During the week volunteers stay on the island. On weekends they stay in Entebbe at the TASAAGA volunteer house where you have access to internet services, electricity, shower room, and running water. This house is also surrounded by numerous resort beaches.

This role is suitable only for people with medical training backgrounds who are self motivated and self-directed and who want to make a difference in disadvantaged people's lives. This volunteer opportunity is available both to people willing to commit short time, from 1 to 2 weeks and those willing to stay longer periods of time. Groups, couples and individual travelers are welcome.

Volunteer Fees

People interested in volunteering with TASAAGA must be ready to pay aproject fee of $100 USD per week. That fee would cover food, drinking water, in country transportation to and from the project, airport pick -up and return.
